A dimensão subjetiva da sustentabilidade urbana

Além da idéia de limite e escassez, o conceito de sustentabilidade traz também a noção de continuidade. Do ponto de vista da intervenção na cidade, essa continuidade se expressa na questão da conservação e da mudança. E exatamente neste ponto, que considero fundamental a compreensão da dimensão subjetiva da sustentabilidade. Afinal, a cidade, a coisa humana por excelência, espelha e reflete essa humanidade. A hipótese que levanto é: mais do que cenário para atividades humanas, a cidade e elemento constituinte do ser humano, com ele interage, sempre e necessariamente. Daí seu extraordinário valor simbólico. A teoria psicanalítica fundamenta o texto. Considerando essa base teórica, chamo a atenção para o fato de que o conceito de desenvolvimento urbano sustentável precisa agregar o sentido simbólico, subjetivo, da relação existente entre o indivíduo e seu espaço. E essa relação que permite uma atitude comprometida com a cidade de cada um, sempre e continuamente. Besides the idea of limit and scarcity, the concept of sustainability, also includes the notion of continuity. From the point of view of intervention in the city, this continuity expresses itself in the questions of conservation and of change. It is precisely this point, which I consider fundamental to the comprehension of the subjective dimension of sustainability. In the end, the city, a human creation by excellence, mirrors and reflects that same humanity. The hypothesis I raise is that: more than a setting for human activities, the city is a constituent element of the human being, who interacts with it always and necessarily. The argument I develop is based mainly on theoretical references from psychoanalysis. Considering the theoretical bases, I bring attention to the fact that the construction of the concept of sustainable urban development needs to incorporate the symbolic subjective sense of the relation that is established between the human subject and the space around him. Is this relation that allows for committed intervention implicit in the concept of sustainability.
