RESUMO Tentando situar, como problema central no pensamento de Durkheim, a diferença entre a perspectiva científico-objetiva, de cujo rigor depende a noção de fato social, e a reflexão sobre a ética, que implica uma outra perspectiva, defende que, apesar da importância do conceito de fato social para o desenvolvimento da sociologia como ciência, faltou a Durkheim maior sofisticação epistemológica para fundamentar a noção de fato social como “coisa”. Studies the difference between the objective-scientific perspective, on wich depends the rigor of the notion of social fact, and the reflexion on ethics, which demands another point of view. Contends that, in spite of the importance of the concept of social fact to the development of sociology, Durkheim was not able to a higher epistemological sophistication to settle the notion of social fact as a thing. L’auteur essaye de situer le problème central dans la pensée de Durkheim: la différence entre la perspective scientifique-objective, dont la rigueur dépend tout à fait de la notion du fait social, et la réfléxion sur l’éthique qui entraîne à une autre perspective. Dans ce but, il défend que malgré l’importance du concept du fait social pour le développement de la sociologie comme science, il a manqué à Durkheim une plus forte sophistication épistémologique pour fonder la notion du fait social comme “chose”.
