SATISFACTION OF ACCOUNTING STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THE DISTANCE AND FACE-TO-FACE EDUCATION IN BRAZIL: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS

Resumo: This study compares the satisfaction of Accounting students in the Distance and Face-to-face Education modalities. Data collection occurred through questionnaires applied in April 2019. We used descriptive statistical techniques and multivariate data analysis, more precisely, Cronbach's Alpha statistics, factor analysis by principal components and binary logistic regression. The results indicated that the satisfaction index is lower for distance education students. They also showed how relevant teacher involvement is for student satisfaction. The study contributes to the literature on satisfaction with Accounting courses in Distance Education compared to Face-to-face education and the debate on the higher education model desired in Brazil, specifically in the accounting area.

Se utilizaron técnicas de estadística descriptiva y análisis de datos multivariados, más precisamente el estadístico Alfa de Cronbach, análisis factorial por componentes principales y regresión logística binaria. Los resultados indicaron que el índice de satisfacción es menor para los estudiantes de Educación a Distancia. También mostraron cuán relevante es la participación de los docentes para la satisfacción de los estudiantes. El estudio contribuye para la literatura sobre satisfacción en los cursos de Contabilidad en Educación a Distancia en comparación con la Educación Presencial y al debate sobre el modelo de educación superior que se desea en Brasil, más específicamente en el área de contabilidad.Este estudo compara a satisfação dos estudantes do curso de Ciências Contábeis nas modalidades de Educação a Distância e Presencial. A coleta de dados foi feita por meio de questionários aplicados em abril de 2019. Foram utilizadas técnicas estatísticas descritivas e de análise multivariada de dados, mais precisamente a estatística do Alpha de Cronbach, análise fatorial por componentes principais e regressão logística binária. Os resultados indicaram que o índice de satisfação é menor para os estudantes da modalidade a distância. Também mostraram como é relevante o envolvimento do professor para a satisfação dos estudantes.
