Since the first case of Covid-19 was recorded at the end of 2019, the entire population of the world has been “staying at home”, and consequently using the Internet and the media actively. The virus has caused not only a health crisis, but also an “infodemic”. However, information is seen as essential to prevent the proliferation of the virus, for which it is necessary to be able to identify and evaluate sources of good quality information. The study described here, which was carried out through the application of a questionnaire, aimed to identify facets of the practices of access, evaluation and sharing of information about Covid-19 by the residents of a peripheral neighbourhood of a city in the interior of the state of São Paulo. Even though survey participants have a mostly optimistic perception of their own information skills, the survey identified the need to provide media and information literacy content for these residents.
