Resumo: With the purpose of analyzing the information-seeking behavior of individuals facing the Covid-19 pandemic, this research sought to identify the aspects related to this behavior focusing on cognitive and causal elements that constitute the informational needs of these individuals. To this end, the general model of informational behavior proposed by Wilson (1997) was used as a basis for analysis and reflection. Based on this model, categories of questions involving informational needs, intervening variables, and the information-seeking process were formulated. The results obtained were derived from 574 questionnaires answered between March 22 and 23, 2021 by individuals residing in the coastel region of Paraná. It was found that the population searches for information based on their psychological needs and that, for them, the main source of information about the pandemic and Covid-19 is television, but that they consider scientific articles and medical websites as more reliable sources for information. However, it must be noted that the information provided by the government has no credibility, and that political matters are of little influence in this region.
