Critical analysis of Ant Movie Catalog software from the point of view of the audiovisual filmic documentation

Resumo: This work analyses critically the Ant Movie Catalog, a database for cataloging movies made by Antoine Potten. It was developed to the organization of movie collections in several formats (DVD, CD, VCD) and directed to movie rental shops owners or even people who has a small movie collection (or to home use). This article shows the features of the database on filmic information retrieval, analyses its information fields and suggests the implementation of important fields that can improve its functionality from the point of view of the Audiovisual filmic documentation area.

Esa es una aplicación que permite gestionar colecciones de películas en diversos formatos (DVD, CD, VCD) para el uso por dueños de videoclubes o mismo personas que posee una pequeña colección doméstica de películas. El artículo expone las características de la base de datos en la recuperación de la información fílmica, hace un analisis de sus campos de información y sugiere la adición de campos importantes para tornala más funcional desde del punto de vista de el área de la Documentación Audiovisual.O trabalho analisa criticamente a base de dados de filmes construída por Antoine Potten chamada Ant Movie Catalog, desenvolvida para organização de um acervo de filmes em diversos formatos (DVD, CD, VCD) e direcionada a um público-alvo de donos de locadoras de vídeo ou mesmo pessoas com um pequeno acervo caseiro.
