University library as a learning space: application of the gc@bu “framework” at UFSC University Library

Resumo: University libraries aim to provide not only access to information, but also collaborative learning spaces that provide the creation and sharing of knowledge for the community in which they are inserted. Therefore, they have been adopting Knowledge Management as a tool to obtain competitive advantage. The objective of this case study is to present the diagnosis and evaluation of the Learning/Knowledge Spaces Module of the Framework GC@BU applied at the Biblioteca Universitária of the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (BU/UFSC). The analysis of the elements of the aforementioned Module (Services, Spaces and Infrastructure of Networks and Technologies) demonstrates that the BU/UFSC meets well most of the defined criteria - especially in relation to services offered and learning spaces - but it lacks improvements in some of these elements and, more specifically, in relation to technological limitations, both in terms of infrastructure and servers in the area.

Para tanto, vêm adotando a Gestão do Conhecimento como ferramenta para a obtenção de vantagem competitiva. O objetivo deste estudo de caso é apresentar o diagnóstico e a avaliação do Módulo Espaços de Aprendizagem/Conhecimento do Framework GC@BU aplicado na Biblioteca Universitária da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (BU/UFSC).
