Resumo: Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) is a coagulopathy derived from the massive consumption of platelets and coagulation factors, and it is linked to any factor that alters drastically the hemostasy. This is the case of a patient with chronic renal failure (CRF) that suffered a punction accident after the placing of a Schiller catether, generating a great size intrathoracic hematoma and which result was a coagulopathy setting. Although it was a possible etiology to DIVC, it’s not common to see great hematomas listed as etiology to DIC in the conventional medical literature or even in articles of bibliographic revision. In this report, a relationship between a non-resolution of a intrathoracic hematoma and a appearance of a DIC setting in this patient will be evinced.
