Resumo: In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the great challenges has been how to adequately communicate, to authorities and society in general, the uncertainties related to the existing scientific knowledge and necessary for decision making. In this sense, this letter to the editor highlights the dimensions (technical, methodological, epistemological and social) and the types of uncertainties as well as presenting communication strategies for such situations. We conclude that it is important that any political discussion that uses scientific evidence, which invariably involves uncertainties to a greater or lesser extent, occurs in a scenario where the assumptions and values ​​are clearly explicit, the breadth of the results is articulated and the biases identified.

Nesse sentido, essa carta ao editor destaca as dimensões (técnica, metodológica, epistemológica e social) e os tipos de incertezas bem como apresenta estratégias de comunicação para tais situações.
