EDUCATION, ENVIRONMENT AND HEALTH IN SCHOOLS: a critical environmental education perspective

Resumo: | This study sought to identify the conceptions about Environmental Education of students in the Licentiate Degree in Biological Sciences at the Federal University of Paraíba, and how they think they can contribute to environmental and health issues in the classroom, based on Environmental Education. Through a qualitative approach and under the epistemological orientation of Historical-Dialectical Materialism, a questionnaire was applied to twenty students of the Licentiate Course in Biological Sciences, at the Federal University of Paraíba, to understand their conceptions about Environmental Education and the theoretical approach and methodological approach to educational, environmental and health issues in schools. As a result, it was possible to observe a diversity of conceptions about Enviromental Education, as well as inconsistencies that reflect the lack of theoretical basis on its aspects and the superficiality of discourses about reflection and criticism in its practices. It was concluded that the deepening and understanding of Critical Enviromental Education are required in the initial and continued training of subjects who will work in education in the search for transforming reality. |

Mediante un enfoque cualitativo y bajo la orientación epistemológica del Materialismo Histórico-Dialéctico, se aplicó un cuestionario a veinte estudiantes de la Licenciatura en Ciencias Biológicas, de la Universidad Federal de Paraíba, para comprender sus concepciones sobre Educación Ambiental y el enfoque teórico y metodológico. enfoque de los problemas educativos, ambientales y de salud en las escuelas. Como resultado, fue posible observar una diversidad de concepciones sobre la EA, así como inconsistencias que reflejan la falta de base teórica sobre sus aspectos y la superficialidad de los discursos sobre la reflexión y la crítica en sus prácticas. Se concluyó que la profundización y comprensión de la EA Crítica son necesarias en la formación inicial y continuada de los sujetos que trabajarán en educación en la búsqueda de la transformación de la realidad.Este estudo buscou identificar quais as concepções sobre Educação Ambiental dos estudantes do curso de Licenciatura em Ciências Biológicas da Universidade Federal da Paraíba, e como estes pensam poder contribuir com as temáticas ambientais e de saúde em sala de aula, a partir da Educação Ambiental. Através de uma abordagem qualitativa e sob orientação epistemológica do Materialismo Histórico-Dialético, foi aplicado um questionário com vinte estudantes do Curso de Licenciatura em Ciências Biológicas, da Universidade Federal da Paraíba, para compreender as concepções dos mesmos sobre a Educação Ambiental e a abordagem teórica e metodológica de temas educacionais, ambientais e de saúde nas escolas. Como resultados, foi possível observar diversidade de concepções sobre a EA, assim como incoerências que refletem a falta de embasamento teórico sobre suas vertentes e a superficialidade de discursos sobre a reflexão e a crítica em suas práticas.
