Resumo: Este artigo busca realizar algumas reflexões acerca das representações da mulher hamburguense no Jornal O 5 de Abril de Novo Hamburgo/RS nos anos 1940, período caracterizado por algumas transformações dos papeis femininos, principalmente relacionados ao crescimento de seus espaços de atuação profissional e socialmente. A importância do jornal como fonte de pesquisa histórica será enfatizada, bem como será relacionada à situação da mulher na história do Brasil com o periódico utilizado.
