Resumo: | Dengue is an endemic arbovirus in Brazil that causes several sociocultural, economic, and public health repercussions in the country. In view of this situation, this study seeks to clarify the epidemiology of this infection in the Brazilian territory. To achieve this objective, a search was carried out on the Hospital Information System platforms of the SUS (SIH/SUS) and in the Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System of the Ministry of Health (DATASUS), and the data obtained were subsequently tabulated. Through this research, it was observed that the distribution of absolute cases of dengue is very variable among the different regions of the country, being more prevalent in the Southeast region, with 43.42% of the reported cases. The age group of people between 1 and 9 years was the one that most required hospital admissions, with the corresponding13.26%ofthecases. Femaleshadthehighestnumberofhospitalizations due to this infection, with 52.8 of the cases. In addition, with regard to skin color, people who declared themselves yellow were the ones with the highest number of hospitalizations, with 49.88% of the total, followed by 41% of the group of white people. It is concluded that dengue is irregularly distributed throughout the Brazilian regions and is associated with the sociocultural, demographic and geographic characteristics of each location. In addition, because it is a preventable disease, raising awareness among the population and expanding the operation of zoonosis centers could positively influence the fight against this infection and reduce its impact. |
