Resumo: The first years of a child's life play a crucial role in shaping their future development. However, challenges such as prematurity can compromise this process, leading to potential cognitive impairments, learning difficulties, and behavioral disorders. Prematurity, one of the leading causes of global infant mortality, affects millions of babies annually, imposing not only significant socioeconomic costs but also challenges in neuropsychomotor development. This article addresses the importance of evaluating neuropsychomotor development in preterm infants, highlighting the impacts of this condition and the methods used for assessment. Moreover, it emphasizes the need for personalized, evidence-based interventions to promote healthy development in these children. It is an exploratory investigation of a qualitative nature, based on a critical and synthetic analysis of the available scientific literature. In the pages of development, preterm infants tend to write stories of overcoming, where each challenge overcome is a chapter of hope and resilience.
