Resumo: The article stretches the relationships between the indiscriminate use of medicines that proposes the exponential growth of their use on the world stage, contrasting with the principle of Rational Use of Medicines (URM) proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and implemented in the Unified Health System (SUS) through the National Medicines Policy (PNM). Thus, the role of Nursing and Public Health within the scope of Primary Care are peremptory in valuing and understanding the importance of responsibility in relation to medicines.
