Resumo: Fluoridation is one of the main and most important public health measures to control caries prevention, but adding fluoride to water in quantities that are not recommended can cause harm to the population. The aim of this study was to survey the websites of the sanitation companies in the municipalities of Minas Gerais, looking for data on water fluoridation. It can be seen that of the 853 municipalities in Minas Gerais, 171 (20%) carry out water fluoridation, and of these, the fluoride levels present in the public water supply are within the range considered adequate (0.6 to 0.8 ppm). The majority of municipalities, 582 (68.2%), do not fluoridate or do not provide data on fluoridation on the websites consulted. These findings highlight the importance of implementing public policy programs aimed at implementing fluoridation of public water supplies, as well as control so that the ideal levels are delivered to the population.

Specialized Dentistry Group2023-10-25info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/71410.36557/2674-8169.2023v5n5p1641-1658Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 5 No. 5 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 1641-1658Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 5 Núm. 5 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 1641-1658Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 5 n. 5 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 1641-16582674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/714/870Copyright (c) 2023 Lara de Carvalho Barreto, Denise Souza Matoshttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessBarreto, Lara de CarvalhoSouza Matos, Denise2023-10-25T15:10:26Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/714Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2023-10-25T15:10:26Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false
