Resumo: | Introduction: Global aging is accelerating, leading to an inverted age pyramid, with a significant increase in the elderly population and, consequently, a rise in age-related diseases such as Alzheimer's Disease (AD). This underscores the role of nurses in providing care for elderly individuals with AD in the home environment. Objective: To characterize scientific publications between 2018 and 2022 regarding the role of nurses in home-based care for elderly individuals with AD, identifying nursing interventions, as well as strategies and challenges faced by these professionals. Methodology: A narrative review with exploratory-descriptive characteristics was conducted using the Virtual Health Library to search for articles published in the last five years (2018-2022) related to AD, home nursing, and the role of nursing professionals. Results: Sixteen articles were found, of which seven met the inclusion criteria. The analyzed articles emphasized the need for continuous education and training for nurses dealing with patients with AD. Furthermore, they highlighted the effectiveness of interactive interventions, training programs, and the importance of realistic films to enhance understanding and awareness of the disease. Discussion: Two main categories emerged, professional nurse training and education in caring for elderly individuals with Alzheimer's, and nursing interventions for elderly individuals with Alzheimer's and their caregivers. Conclusion: The results underscore the importance of nurses in providing home-based care to elderly individuals with AD. The need for continuous education and disease awareness is evident, aiming to improve the quality of care and enhance patient health. Further studies are recommended to address gaps in professional qualifications and ongoing education, promoting more effective and compassionate care. |

Specialized Dentistry Group2023-11-12info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/85210.36557/2674-8169.2023v5n5p2809-2821Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 5 No. 5 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 2809-2821Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 5 Núm. 5 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 2809-2821Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 5 n. 5 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 2809-28212674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/852/973Copyright (c) 2023 Sumaya Fouad Ali , Fabiana Mikaele de Souza , Luana Paola Borges de Lima , Isabelle Laís Mandoti , Luana Patricia Weizemann, Ityara Cristina Busetti https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessAli , Sumaya FouadSouza , Fabiana Mikaele de Lima , Luana Paola Borges deMandoti , Isabelle LaísWeizemann, Luana Patricia Busetti , Ityara Cristina2023-11-12T20:25:30Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/852Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2023-11-12T20:25:30Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false |
