Summary: Cardiovascular diseases pose a global challenge, representing a significant burden of morbidity and mortality. Oxidative stress, an imbalance between the production of reactive oxygen species and the body's antioxidant mechanisms, has been recognized as a central factor in cardiovascular diseases. This phenomenon triggers a cascade of molecular events that can lead to dysfunction of cardiac cells and blood vessels, contributing to the development of conditions such as atherosclerosis, hypertension, and heart failure. This article aims to examine the impact of oxidative stress on cardiovascular health, exploring its fundamental mechanisms, clinical implications, and emerging therapeutic strategies. Understanding the role of oxidative stress in cardiovascular diseases is crucial, not only for identifying new therapeutic targets but also for developing innovative preventive strategies. This is a qualitative research, critically reviewing relevant studies. We used academic and scientific platforms to select articles, employing specific terms related to the topic. The research highlights that understanding the role of oxidative stress in cardiovascular health is important for developing effective prevention and treatment strategies. This includes promoting a healthy lifestyle rich in antioxidants and developing pharmacological therapies aimed at modulating oxidative stress.
