Resumo: Introduction: Allergic contact dermatitis caused by cosmetic products is a clinical condition with a significant impact on the health and quality of life of individuals. In this study, a narrative review was conducted to investigate current trends and emerging agents associated with this condition. Objective: To review trends and advances in the diagnosis and treatment of allergic contact dermatitis caused by cosmetic products. Methodology: It constitutes a systematic approach to identify, select and analyze relevant articles on allergic contact dermatitis related to cosmetic products. Databases such as PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science were consulted, using specific search terms. After applying the criteria, a total of 50 articles were included in the review, available in English and published in the last 20 years. Results: They revealed the presence of several allergenic chemical substances in cosmetic products, such as preservatives, fragrances, dyes and emulsifiers. Identification of these allergens and control of sensitization are essential to reduce the incidence and severity of allergic contact dermatitis. Regulatory measures are being implemented to restrict the use of known allergens to protect consumers. Conclusion: Highlights the importance of controlling awareness, identifying allergens and implementing preventive measures to reduce allergic contact dermatitis caused by cosmetic products. Furthermore, the need for continuous advances in diagnosis and treatment is highlighted, aiming to improve the quality of life of affected individuals. Healthcare professionals, cosmetic formulators and regulators play a key role in ensuring the safety and quality of cosmetic products available on the market.
