Resumo: Urinary tract infection is the third most common clinical alteration in pregnant women, due to several changes in their body. The objective was to identify the possible causes of urinary tract infection in pregnant women, describe the risks of complications and how important is its diagnosis as soon as possible. This is a literature review, carried out in the main databases, namely: SciELO, Lilacs, BDENF, MEDLINE using the following descriptors combined with Boolean descriptors: “Health care AND Infectious Complications in Pregnancy AND Urinary Infections, between 2011 a 2021; available in full for free and whose results meet the objectives of this study. As exclusion criteria, articles written in other languages that do not follow those described above were adopted; publications prior to December 2011; texts not freely available in full; theses, monographs, studies of bibliographic reviews and repeated texts. Urinary tract infections during pregnancy are caused by hormonal, anatomical and physiological factors that contribute to bacterial growth. In addition, there is an association between hospitalization for UTI in the pregnant woman and episodes of preterm labor. It is concluded that the frequency of pregnant women with complications due to UTI constitutes a health problem in the country, bringing to the discussion the importance of primary care coverage and the implementation of intervention policies for its reduction.

Specialized Dentistry Group2023-08-05info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/39010.36557/2674-8169.2023v5n4p270-283Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 5 No. 4 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 270-283Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 5 Núm. 4 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 270-283Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 5 n. 4 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 270-2832674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/390/472Copyright (c) 2023 Priscila Maria Costa Freitas Freitas, Neemias Costa Duarte Neto, Denise Alves Santos, Jurema Gonçalves Lopes de Castro Filha, Francisca Leilisvânia Souza Albuquerque, Ingrid Germano de Azevedo Silva, Francisca Maria Alves Barbosa, Jessyca Karolayny Coutinho de Assunção, Eliana da Silva Sousa, Francisca Maria Ferreira Noronha, Leila Cristina Almeida de Sousahttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessFreitas, Priscila Maria CostaDuarte Neto, Neemias CostaSantos, Denise Alvesde Castro Filha, Jurema Gonçalves LopesAlbuquerque, Francisca Leilisvânia SouzaSilva, Ingrid Germano de AzevedoBarbosa, Francisca Maria Alvesde Assunção, Jessyca Karolayny CoutinhoSousa, Eliana da SilvaNoronha, Francisca Maria Ferreirade Sousa, Leila Cristina Almeida2023-08-05T19:30:45Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/390Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2023-08-05T19:30:45Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false
