Resumo: Implant dentistry is a safe option for oral rehabilitation as it improves aesthetics and chewing function in cases of total and partial edentulism. In 1969, Branemark introduced the concept of osseointegration and stipulated that implants required two surgical steps: placing the implant after tooth extraction and waiting 4 to 6 months between the two surgeries. This period may require the use of some type of temporary prosthesis, such as removable or adhesive, which does not always function properly during the healing period. Currently, it is customary to wait 2 to 3 months for remodeling of the alveolar ridge after extraction, and 3 to 6 months for weightless healing for implant osseointegration, which is a surgical sequence that can result in serious tissue loss and damage. It is performed in two stages, and gingival grafting is generally necessary for aesthetic purposes to obtain satisfactory results. Finding a solution for tooth extraction gives dental surgeons the opportunity to determine the best time to place implants. This decision is essential because it has a significant impact on the outcome of the treatment.

Specialized Dentistry Group2023-12-19info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/111810.36557/2674-8169.2023v5n5p5905-5914Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 5 No. 5 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 5905-5914Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 5 Núm. 5 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 5905-5914Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 5 n. 5 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 5905-59142674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/1118/1268Copyright (c) 2023 Amanda Pereira Leite Alberto , Bruna Letícia Araújo do Carmo Vespasiani , Yuri Alefh Saraiva Dias, Olivia Leone Kiehl , Sara Lacort , Leila da Silva Bortolato, Nibia Nasa de Oliveira Henrique , Mayara Pereira de Ávila , Nemer Melo Fraiha , Diogo Henrique Juliano Pinto de Mourahttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessAlberto , Amanda Pereira LeiteVespasiani , Bruna Letícia Araújo do CarmoDias, Yuri Alefh SaraivaKiehl , Olivia LeoneLacort , SaraBortolato, Leila da SilvaHenrique , Nibia Nasa de OliveiraÁvila , Mayara Pereira deFraiha , Nemer MeloMoura, Diogo Henrique Juliano Pinto de2023-12-19T20:47:41Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/1118Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2023-12-19T20:47:41Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false
