Resumo: Exploring the relationship between adverse childhood experiences and psychiatric disorders in adulthood, various therapeutic approaches are examined to address the effects of these experiences. There is an emphasis on both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions. Initially, the effectiveness of recent pharmacological interventions is highlighted, which aim to control symptoms of psychiatric disorders and improve patients' quality of life. These therapies are not limited to symptom relief alone but also aim to address the underlying causes of these disorders, considering the complex interplay between neurobiological and environmental factors. In addition to pharmacological interventions, innovative non-pharmacological approaches are being explored, such as behavioral therapies and lifestyle modulation. These strategies include cognitive-behavioral therapies, social skills training, and relaxation techniques, which have shown to be effective in reducing symptoms of psychiatric disorders and managing stress. Ongoing research in this field is crucial for identifying the most effective approaches and adapting them to individual patient needs. Furthermore, it is relevant to highlight the role of specific medications in treating psychiatric disorders associated with adverse childhood experiences, including antidepressants, anxiolytics, and mood stabilizers. These medications aim to control symptoms of psychiatric disorders, providing relief to patients affected by adverse childhood experiences. In summary, the approach to treating psychiatric disorders related to adverse childhood experiences is increasingly focused on combining pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy. The integration of these therapeutic strategies can offer a more comprehensive and personalized approach to managing these disorders, significantly improving patients' quality of life. However, further research is needed to fully understand the underlying mechanisms and optimize the use of these therapeutic interventions in clinical practice.
