Resumo: | A pregnancy is considered high risk when conditions exist that create a greater likelihood of adverse and harmful outcomes for both the mother and the fetus. Due to the high number of cases of high-risk pregnancies, the various predisposing diseases that cause this situation and the need to seek medical treatment from the beginning of the disease, this study is scientifically and socially justified, as it allows us to understand the 'expanding chances' of a high-risk pregnancy. Given the above, the objective of this work is to explain the predisposing conditions and consequences of uncontrolled and untreated complications. This is a descriptive review of the literature with a qualitative approach. For use Articles published between 2015 and 2023, published in the Google Scholar database, were selected using health descriptions: high risk; Complications during pregnancy. Data analysis was developed through cognitive, exploratory, reflective or critical reading and interpretative reading. Risk factors may be associated with age, biophysical indicators related to genetics and health care; psychosocial indicators related to pregnant women’s behavior; Sociodemography deals with issues such as lack of prenatal care, low income, marital status, race and ethnicity, and environmental issues deal with the dangers present in the living and working environment. It can be concluded that in high-risk pregnancies the main risk factor is related to age, biopsychosocial factors and environmental factors. Complications include perinatal morbidity and mortality, premature birth, and fetal anomalies. It is important that pregnancies are carefully monitored to identify possible risks as early as possible. |
