Resumo: Cervical cancer, highly related to persistent infection by oncogenic types of Human Papillomavirus (HPV), represents the third most incident type of cancer among women as the primary tumor location and the fourth cause of natural death in women in Brazil, according to the National Cancer Institute (INCA). Objective: This study analyzes the epidemiological aspects of mortality from cervical cancer recorded in the municipality of Cascavel-PR, in the period from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2021, such as: age group, ethnicity, education, address and work occupation of affected women. Consequently, an epidemiological profile was established among the cases for comparison with national data. Methodology: A descriptive study with a retrospective approach, based on data from Death Statements entered into the Mortality Information System (SIM), present in the DATASUS platform. Result: In 2013 there was a higher incidence of deaths from cervical cancer. The most affected age group was 30 to 39 years, white ethnicity the most common, most married and with education between 4 and 7 years. District 3 of Cascavel had the highest percentage of deaths in the municipality. Conclusion: The results of this study highlight the importance of implementing effective public policies for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cervical cancer and its precursor lesions. Understanding these epidemiological characteristics assists in proper diagnosis, still in the precursor stages and, consequently, can reduce mortality from cervical cancer in the region.

Specialized Dentistry Group2023-06-14info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/29710.36557/2674-8169.2023v5n3p432-450Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 5 No. 3 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 432-450Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 5 Núm. 3 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 432-450Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 5 n. 3 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 432-4502674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/297/374Copyright (c) 2023 Caroline Dellabeta dos Santos, Alessandra Flávia Marin, Bruna Bernegozzi Bessa, Vinicius Bernegozzi Bessa, Larissa Kerr de Araujo Sodréhttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessDellabeta dos Santos, CarolineMarin, Alessandra FláviaBernegozzi Bessa, BrunaBernegozzi Bessa, Viniciusde Araujo Sodré, Larissa Kerr2023-06-15T00:58:52Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/297Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2023-06-15T00:58:52Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false
