Multitemporal deforestation in the Caatinga biome in the municipality of Delmiro Gouveia, Alagoas, Brazil

Resumo: The Caatinga biome predominates in much of the northeastern region of the country, comprising about 48% of the state of Alagoas, extending through the municipality of Delmiro Gouveia. Caatinga is currently undergoing a process of suppression due to agricultural expansion, fires in the area, logging for commercial purposes and natural phenomena. Thus, the present work aimed to analyze in a multitemporal way the changes in the Caatinga vegetation over 33 years. For this research, we used the Qgis software and data from the Mapbiomas 4 collection in order to understand Caatinga dynamics. From the results, it was found that there were changes over the analyzed time, indicating a deforestation of 71.52 km², which is equivalent to 27% of the area. However, we observe a regeneration process after a long period of deforestation and desertification of the biome. For the area to accelerate the recovery process, further studies of remote sensing are necessary, together with new analyzes of the landsat satellite, as well as more inspection by the responsible agencies.

Caatinga se encuentra actualmente en un proceso de supresión debido a la expansión agrícola, incendios en el área, tala con fines comerciales y fenómenos naturales. Así, el presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo analizar de forma multitemporal los cambios en la vegetación de Caatinga a lo largo de 33 años. Para esta investigación, utilizamos el software Qgis y los datos de la colección Mapbiomas 4 para comprender la dinámica de Caatinga. A partir de los resultados, se encontró que hubo cambios durante el tiempo analizado, lo que indica una deforestación de 71.52 km², lo que equivale al 27% del área. Sin embargo, observamos un proceso de regeneración después de un largo período de deforestación y desertificación del bioma. Para que el área acelere el proceso de recuperación, se necesitan más estudios de teledetección, junto con nuevos análisis del satélite Landsat, así como más inspección por parte de las agencias responsables.O bioma Caatinga predomina em grande parte da região nordeste do País, compreendendo cerca de 48% do estado de Alagoas, estendendo-se pelo município de Delmiro Gouveia. A Caatinga vem sofrendo um processo de supressão em decorrência da expansão agrícola, dos incêndios ocorridos na área, do corte de árvores para fins comerciais e de fenômenos naturais. Assim, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo analisar de forma multitemporal as mudanças na vegetação Caatinga no decorrer de 33 anos. Para realização desta pesquisa, utilizou-se o software Qgis e dados da coleção Mapbiomas 4, a fim de compreender a dinâmica da Caatinga. A partir dos resultados, constatou-se que houve mudanças no decorrer do tempo analisado, apontando um desmatamento de 71,52 Km², o que equivale a 27% da área. No entanto, observamos um processo de regeneração após um longo período de desmatamento e desertificação do bioma.
