Hydrogeomorphometric characterization of the Bananeiras River microbasin in the municipality of Conselheiro Lafaiete in Minas Gerais Brazil

Resumo: | The hydrogeomorphometric analysis is extremely important to understand the behavior of a hydrographic basin, making it possible to collect information about its performance in flood situations and allowing better management of the impacts resulting from rainfall. One way to obtain the parameters for this characterization is through software that simulates the responses of the system at geometric, topographic, and hydrographic levels based on an elevation model of the given region. Thus, we employed QGIS to process images obtained through the Alos Pausar radar, then refined the digital model and extracted the meaningful data with the help of the SAGA and GRASS tools. Subsequently, based on our theoretical framework, we analyzed the characteristics of the microbasin to find the cause of the flooding problems that afflict the city of Conselheiro Lafaiete, in the state of Minas Gerais, due to the overflow of Bananeiras river that crosses through the urban area of the city. However, the results showed that the microbasin of the river has characteristics that reduce the probability of flooding due to its elongated shape and good drainage. |

Una forma de obtener los parámetros para esta caracterización es a partir de un software que utiliza modelos digitales de elevación para generar respuestas a niveles geométricos, topográficos e hidrográficos de una región determinada. Así, el presente trabajo adoptó el uso de QGis para el procesamiento de imágenes obtenidas a través del radar Alos Pausar y con la ayuda de las herramientas SAGA y GRASS se llevó a cabo la mejora del modelo digital y extracción de la información necesaria. Posteriormente, con fundamentos teóricos, se realizó un análisis de sus características en un intento de justificar los problemas de inundaciones que surgen en la ciudad de Conselheiro Lafaiete, en el estado de Minas Gerais, debido al río Bananeiras que atraviesa su casco urbano. Sin embargo, los resultados mostraron que la microcuenca de este río tiene características que reducen la probabilidad de inundaciones debido a su forma alargada y buen drenaje.A análise das características hidrogeomorfométricas é de extrema importância para o entendimento e compreensão do comportamento de uma bacia hidrográfica, sendo possível obter informações sobre o seu desempenho em situações de cheias e permitindo melhor gerenciamento dos impactos que podem advir do acontecimento de chuvas. Assim, esse trabalho visou caracterizar hidrogeomorfometricamente a microbacia do Rio Bananeiras, no município do Conselheiro Lafaiete – MG. Uma maneira de obter os parâmetros para esta caracterização é a partir de softwares que utilizam modelos digitais de elevação para gerar respostas em níveis geométricos, topográficos e hidrográficos de uma determinada região. Desta forma, o presente trabalho adotou o uso do QGis para o processamento de imagens obtidas por meio do radar Alos Pausar e com o auxílio das ferramentas SAGA e GRASS foi realizado o melhoramento do modelo digital e extração das informações necessárias. Posteriormente, com o uso dos fundamentos teóricos, realizou-se a análise de suas características na tentativa de justificar os problemas de inundações que surgem na cidade de Conselheiro Lafaiete, no estado de Minas Gerais, devido ao rio Bananeiras que atravessa a sua área urbana. Entretanto, os resultados apresentaram que a microbacia desse rio possui características que diminuem a probabilidade de ocorrência de inundações devido ao seu formato alongado e boa drenagem.
