Resumo: ABSTRACT: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a public health problem, being considered a disease that presents quite common metabolic dysfunction in the gestational period. Thus, some medical guidelines that can be used to prevent GDM, such as healthy eating, physical activity and exercise, healthy lifestyle and drug treatment. The study aims to identify the challenges of medical follow-up in the postpartum follow-up of women with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus. Methodologically, the research is an integrative review, developed at the VHL, through the search for published and indexed studies in the LILACS and MEDLINE databases. To search for the listed studies, the following descriptors and their combinations in Portuguese were used: Medical Assistance. Gestational diabetes. Tracking. The inclusion criteria were: original scientific articles that discuss the subject, that are available in Portuguese, have free access, full text and that have been published in the aforementioned databases between the years 2017 and August 2022. The results indicate that 131 studies were initially found and after applying the filters referring to the criteria established in the integrative review, until 05 studies were selected to compose the sample of the present IR It is concluded that more research should be explored in this area, so that professionals can have access to other forms of management of GDM and protocols are developed that serve pregnant women both in the gestational period and in the postpartum period.
