Levamento de mortes por infecção respiratória entre os anos de 2016 e 2019: um panorama no período pré-covid-19 no Brasil

In this article, we seek to analyze deaths resulting from respiratory tract infection or pneumonia in the years 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 in Brazil and their respective regions. Thus, this research aims to compile, analyze and estimate the mortality rate from respiratory tract infections of less than 100,000 inhabitants, nationally and regionally, available in the Mortality Information System (SIM) database in the public domain in previous years. The data selected for this study were listed by regions of Brazil and respective years. The filters used to select the type of death were: pneumonia (074) and other acute infections of the lower respiratory tract (075), plus influenza (073). The results showed that in the period there was a significant rate of deaths from infections in the South region (flu + other infections), compared to other states. For pneumonia (074), the rates were high in all states, mainly in the Southeast region, with an average rate of 49 in the 4 years analyzed. With these indicators, we can conclude that there is a high mortality rate from respiratory tract infections in Brazil, especially in pneumonic cases, and that the study carried out can contribute to the finding of a possible increase in these rates in the post-pandemic period. periods in Brazil.
