Resumo: Social networks cause quick sharing of texts, regardless of their accuracy. In the new coronavirus pandemic that reached the globe, this scenario became notorious, with the massive spread of alarming news, distorted or created from rumors about the theme. Given this, the research aimed to characterize the COVID-19 infodemia in Brazil, based on the mapping of quantitative and qualitative content on the internet and the concept of information literacy. The results contribute to the discussions in the area regarding the search and use of information and the assessment of its veracity and relevance in relation to COVID-19 in Brazil
