Patient safety course for health professionals of the sesab network in distance learning

This study aims to share the experience of how the Update Course on Patient Care Safety was developed in the distance learning modality by the School of Escola de Saúde Pública da Bahia Professor Jorge Novis (ESPBA). This study seeks to contribute to the perception that it is feasible and necessary to adapt courses previously developed in the face-to-face or semi-face-to-face modalities for the distance learning modality, not only due to the epidemiological health scenario established by the Covid-19 pandemic, but especially when it becomes indispensable to expand access to knowledge and bring people and realities together, even if geographically distanced. The course was aimed at middle and university professionals of the Health Department of the State of Bahia (SESAB) of the SUS network and consists of video classes, recorded in the school, complementary texts, videos, forums and evaluation activities available to participants through the Moodle platform of the EAD-SUS. Although well evaluated by the participants, since more than 95% reported that the course met their expectations, the participation of mid-level professionals was small compared to those of university level, just as the nursing team represented the highest percentage of enrollees, which shows us that it is urgent to seek to expand the participation of other professional categories, which also make up the multidisciplinary health team and, therefore, are also responsible for providing safer and more qualified care.
