What has been researched on wrongful convictions and prosecutions in Latin America? A systematic review of the available literature (2010-2023).

Resumo: The article seeks to know what has been researched in Latin America on wrongful convictions and prosecutions. Drawing on a systematic literature review from 2010 to July 2023 in WoS, Scopus and SciELO databases, the article identifies a universe of 50 publications. From a quantitative perspective, the paper inquiries into aspects such as years of publication, countries to which they refer, data about the scientific community that has generated this literature, and the topics they address. Then, it provides a qualitative analysis of the content of the publications, distinguishing among those that address general aspects, factors that contribute to wrongful convictions and prosecutions, correction mechanisms, and compensation mechanisms for wrongful convictions and prosecutions. Although with limitations, the findings provide an overview of research in this area in Latin America, showing that, although scholarship is still scarce compared with other latitudes, the topic has begun to attract interest in recent years in the region.

Para ello, se lleva adelante una revisión sistemática de la literatura disponible desde 2010 hasta julio de 2023 en bases de datos WoS, Scopus y SciELO. A partir de un universo de 50 publicaciones, desde una mirada cuantitativa el artículo indaga en aspectos como: años de publicación, países a que se refieren, datos sobre la comunidad científica que ha generado esta literatura y las temáticas abordadas. En seguida, se proporciona un análisis cualitativo del contenido de las publicaciones, distinguiendo entre aquellas que abordan aspectos generales, factores que contribuyen a las condenas e imputaciones erróneas, mecanismos de corrección y mecanismos de compensación de condenas e imputaciones erróneas. Aunque con limitaciones, los hallazgos permiten tener una visión general de la investigación en esta área en América Latina, apreciando que, si bien la producción es todavía escasa en comparación con otras latitudes, el tema ha comenzado a ser objeto de interés en los últimos años en la región.O artigo busca verificar o que tem sido pesquisado na América Latina sobre condenações e acusações injustas. Para isso, é realizada uma revisão sistemática da literatura disponível desde 2010 até julho de 2023 nas bases de dados WoS, Scopus e SciELO. A partir de um universo de 50 publicações, o artigo analisa, sob uma perspectiva quantitativa, aspectos como: anos de publicação, países aos quais se referem, dados sobre a comunidade científica que gerou essas referências e as temáticas abordadas. Em seguida, é fornecida uma análise qualitativa do conteúdo das publicações, distinguindo entre aquelas que abordam aspectos gerais, fatores que contribuem para as condenações e acusações injustas, mecanismos de correção e mecanismos de compensação de condenações e acusações injustas.
