Resumo: Distance learning has been gaining  ground in Brazil in recent years, with the growth in courses in several fields, as well as students in various parts of the country. An analysis of specific legislation on the subject allows us to understand the  space created to allow this  progress, as well as the statistical data on distance learning presented in national reports showing the recent growth and popularization of this  type of education in the country. In this context, this study      aims to critically analyze the discourse on distance learning in business media magazines based on the discourse of a leader in this area. A mapping discourse analysis was carried out based on concepts from the linguist Dominique Maingueneau and the language philosophy of Mikhail Bakhtin. Two interviews with the CEO of Ser Educacional, Jânio Diniz, were selected to perform such an analysis. The first was an interview  given to the Moneytimes website, and the second was an interview derived from the previous one.  It was given to the Valor Econômico magazine website. The research was developed based on the perspective of language as an intervention. The study objective was to question the presence of educational organizations (or companies) in business magazines and to defend the idea of the increasing commercialization of education, as well as education being treated as a business that is taking on new formats today due to the increase of distance learning courses.

The study objective was to question the presence of educational organizations (or companies) in business magazines and to defend the idea of the increasing commercialization of education, as well as education being treated as a business that is taking on new formats today due to the increase of distance learning courses.
