Resumo: Article prepared from research developed with the Professional Master's Program in Professional and Technological Education (PROFEPT). The work is a case study that mobilized bibliographic analysis, participant observation and action research, with the purpose of verifying how the transition process between 9th grade and high school takes place. The results showed that the student who chooses a course without the minimum information, runs the risk of not identifying himself with his choice. Fact that can stimulate dropout, change course, demanding more time / resources, as well as producing the experience of a meaningless stay, leading the student to not develop as much of his potential as possible.

O trabalho é um estudo de caso que mobilizou análise bibliográfica, observação participante e pesquisa-ação, com a finalidade de verificar como se dá o processo de transição entre 9° ano e Ensino Médio.  Os resultados evidenciara  m que, o estudante que escolhe um curso sem as informações mínimas, corre o risco de não se identificar com a sua escolha.
