Resumo: This article results from a qualitative research conducted in 2003, with students who left the NACES (Advanced Center for Adult Education) program due to their early entrance in the labor market. The study aimed at analyzing the occupational paths of those students, taking into consideration the aspects which led that group of workers to leave school; the labor market characteristics in which they worked; job change rates; and the career requirements which demanded a higher level of schooling.
