The importance of social indicators in research focused on race relations

Resumo: Studies focused on the analysis of race relations show that, in Brazil, the social reading of the phenotype is one of the main elements of social classification. In view of this, this work proposes to investigate, in the light of Applied Social Sciences and based on the theorists that deal with the theme, how such categories were constructed and reframed when it comes to the evaluation of social policies in the Brazilian State. Our intention with this article is to carry out a theoretical analysis regarding the production of social indicators with black and brown social categories as the central element. Its development is structured as follows: we started with Pierre Bourdieu's Field Theory as one of the theoretical elements that base this study. Next, the article discusses how race relations in Brazil are built and reproduced. The text ends with the search to understand the importance of choosing and building indicators for the evaluation of social policies.

Ante esto, este trabajo se propone investigar, a la luz de las Ciencias Sociales Aplicadas y a partir de los teóricos que abordan el tema, cómo se construyeron y reformularon tales categorías en la evaluación de las políticas sociales en el Estado brasileño. Nuestra intención con este artículo es realizar un análisis teórico sobre la producción de indicadores sociales con las categorías sociales negras y pardas como elemento central. Su desarrollo se estructura de la siguiente manera: partimos de la Teoría del Campo de Pierre Bourdieu como uno de los elementos teóricos que fundamentan este estudio. A continuación, el artículo analiza cómo se construyen y reproducen las relaciones raciales en Brasil. El texto finaliza con la búsqueda por comprender la importancia de elegir y construir indicadores para la evaluación de políticas sociales.Estudos voltados para a análise das relações raciais mostram que, no Brasil, a leitura social do fenótipo se constitui em um dos principais elementos de classificação social. Diante disto, este trabalho se propõe a investigar, à luz das Ciências Sociais Aplicadas e com base nos teóricos que tratam do tema, como tais categorias foram construídas e ressignificadas quando se trata de avaliação de políticas sociais no estado brasileiro. Nossa intenção com este artigo é realizar uma análise teórica a respeito da produção de indicadores sociais tendo como elemento central as categoriais sociais pretos e pardos. Seu desenvolvimento encontra-se estruturado da seguinte forma: iniciamos com a Teoria dos Campos de Pierre Bourdieu como um dos elementos teóricos que baseiam este estudo. Em seguida o artigo aborda a forma como as relações raciais no Brasil são construídas e reproduzidas.
