Memories of initial experiences at a Federal Institute: integrated high school at IFPA Campus Abaetetuba (2008–2013)

Resumo: The present research deals with the history and memory of the implementation of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Pará Campus Abaetetuba, in order to investigate how the implementation of Integrated High School (EMI) took place, in the process of implantation of this Campus. Therefore, we carried out a research with a qualitative approach based on bibliographic research, documental research and oral history. Regarding the theoretical and methodological framework, Gil (2002) was privileged with regard to documentary research, Alberti (1996, 2004, 2012) and Portelli (1997, 2006) about oral history and memory; when discussing Integrated High School and Technical and Vocational Education and Training, we are based on Frigotto's, and Ciavatta and Ramos’ premises (2005). The research allowed us to identify several structural problems, in addition to deficits in didactic resources in the initial years of implementation of this educational space, as well as the effort of teachers and technicians to guarantee integral education to students, human formation for professional qualification, also for criticism and social transformation. Thus the protagonism of the student movement in the demand for improvements was identified.

Thus the protagonism of the student movement in the demand for improvements was identified.La presente investigación trata de la historia y la memoria de la implementación del Instituto Federal de Educación, Ciencia y Tecnología de Pará Campus Abaetetuba, con el fin de investigar la implementación de la Escuela Secundaria Integrada (EMI), en el proceso de implantación de este Campus. Por ello, realizamos una investigación con enfoque cualitativo basada en la investigación bibliográfica, documental y la historia oral. En cuanto al marco teórico y metodológico, Gil (2002) fue privilegiado en cuanto a la investigación documental, Alberti (1996, 2004, 2012) y Portelli (1997, 2006) sobre historia oral y memoria; al hablar de Educación Secundaria Integrada y Educación Tecnológica, nos basamos en las premisas de Frigotto; Ciavatta y Ramos (2005). La investigación permitió identificar problemas estructurales, además de déficits de recursos didácticos en los años iniciales de implementación de ese espacio educativo, así como el esfuerzo de docentes y técnicos para garantizar la formación integral de los estudiantes, la formación humana para la calificación profesional, también por la crítica y la transformación social. En fin, se identificó el protagonismo del movimiento estudiantil en la demanda de mejoras.A presente pesquisa trata da história e memória de implantação do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Pará Campus Abaetetuba, de forma a investigar como se deu a implementação do Ensino Médio Integrado (EMI) no processo de implantação desse Campus. Para tanto, efetuamos uma pesquisa com abordagem qualitativa baseada no levantamento bibliográfico, pesquisa documental e história oral. Com relação ao referencial teórico e metodológico, privilegiou-se Gil (2002) no que tange à pesquisa documental, Alberti (1996, 2004, 2012) e Portelli (1997, 2006) acerca de história oral e memória; ao se discutir o Ensino Médio Integrado e a Educação Profissional e Tecnológica nos baseamos nas premissas de Frigotto; Ciavatta e Ramos (2005). A pesquisa permitiu identificar diversos problemas estruturais, além de deficit de recursos didáticos nos anos iniciais de implantação desse espaço educacional, assim como o esforço de docentes e técnicos para garantir formação integral aos alunos, formação humana para a qualificação profissional, também para a crítica e transformação social.
