Palpatory anatomy as a strategy for the interaction between the theoretical contents of Anatomy of the Locomotor System and clinical practice during the first semester of medical school

Resumo: | This study presents an analysis of the implementation of Palpatory Anatomy as a methodology of interaction between the theoretical subjects of the anatomy of the musculoskeletal system and clinical practice in the context of Human Anatomy teaching, from the perspectives of students from the first period of the Medical School at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Macaé Campus (UFRJ-Macaé). Palpatory Anatomy activities were included in the Human Anatomy course and a perception questionnaire was distributed to be answered by the students at the end of the semester. 84.71% of the total number of participants (144 students) agreed that the sessions contributed to learning the subject, and 72.22% reported an increased interest in the topic, results that are in accordance with the 2014 Curriculum Guidelines. On the other hand, there were criticisms on the short time devoted to the activity and the number of sessions. Although the current curricular structure of medicine courses makes it difficult to practice multimodal approaches, the inclusion of Palpatory Anatomy is encouraged as a teaching strategy for Human Anatomy, and as a skill to be developed and practiced throughout medical training, due to its relevance in performance of a good physical examination and clinical reasoning. |

Las actividades de Anatomía Palpatoria se incluyeron en el curso de Anatomía Humana y, al final del semestre, se distribuyó un cuestionario de percepción para ser respondido por los estudiantes. Del total de participantes (144 estudiantes), el 84,71% estuvo de acuerdo en que las sesiones contribuyeron al aprendizaje de la disciplina y el 72,22% reportó un mayor interés en el tema, resultados que están de acuerdo con las Directrices Curriculares de 2014. Por otro lado, se critica el poco tiempo dedicado a la actividad y el número de sesiones. Aunque la estructura curricular actual de los cursos de medicina dificulta la práctica de enfoques multimodales, se fomenta la inclusión de la Anatomía Palpatoria como una estrategia de enseñanza de la Anatomía Humana y como una habilidad a desarrollar y a practicar a lo largo de la formación médica, dada su relevancia en el desempeño de un buen examen físico y razonamiento clínico.O presente trabalho buscou analisar a implementação da Anatomia Palpatória como metodologia de interação entre os conteúdos teóricos da anatomia do sistema musculoesquelético e a prática clínica no contexto do ensino de Anatomia Humana, a partir das perspectivas dos discentes do primeiro período do curso de Medicina da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Campus Macaé (UFRJ-Macaé). Sobre o total de participantes (144 discentes), 84,71% concordaram que houve contribuição das sessões no aprendizado da disciplina e 72,22% relataram aumento do interesse pelo tema, resultados que estão de acordo com as Diretrizes Curriculares de 2014. Por outro lado, houve críticas ao tempo curto dedicado à atividade e ao número de sessões.
