Rethinking learning: challenge of the third millenium

Resumo: The complex educational situation, on the current knowlegde society, insisting on prioritizing only the pedagogical question, setting aside the social, political and economical perspectives, in which it is implied, can be considered a unilateral view. Based on recent studies, developed by Cognitive Sciences, we can reinforce the conception that an effective change in Education will only happen when we are able to understand what occurs in the brain when it is in learning process — it is named Cognitive Activity. Rethinking learning as a challenge of the Third Milenium means to review what “learning” really represents. We chose, then, to situate our consideration in a post-modern context, permeated by a knowledge society.

Com base em estudos recentes desenvolvidos pelas Ciências Cognitivas, fortalecer-se-á a concepção de que uma mudança efetiva na educação só ocorrerá quando se for capaz de compreender o que ocorre no cérebro quando em atividade de conhecimento - denominada atividade cognitiva. Repensar o aprender como um desafio do 3º milênio implica rever o que realmente significa aprender.
