Resumo: | This paper aims at reviewing part of the history of a public institution of teacher education of great importance for the city of Campos dos Goytacazes and the northern region of Rio de Janeiro State – the “Escola Normal”. The methodology involved the search of primary official sources as well as oral history in order to make up new documents and retrieve memories about the institution. Through the recollections obtained in interviews with former students, we learned more about the school daily life, the academic program, the teachers, among others, in the view of people who spent most of their lives in such institution. |

Through the recollections obtained in interviews with former students, we learned more about the school daily life, the academic program, the teachers, among others, in the view of people who spent most of their lives in such institution.Este trabalho busca “remontar” uma parte da trajetória de uma instituição pública de formação docente de grande relevância para a cidade de Campos dos Goytacazes e toda a região Norte Fluminense, a Escola Normal, que funcionava anexa ao Liceu de Humanidades de Campos, no período de 1947 a 1954. Esse período foi escolhido devido à mudança curricular decorrente da Lei Orgânica do Ensino Normal, promulgada pelo Governo Federal em 2 de janeiro de 1946. A metodologia utilizada englobou a busca de fontes oficiais primárias e a história oral, com o objetivo de compor novos documentos e recuperar memórias acerca da Instituição.
