ANALYSIS OF THE CONTENT “ORGANIC DECOMPOSITION” IN BIOLOGY TEXTBOOKS: FROM THE ORIGIN OF LIFE TO BIOTECHNOLOGY

Resumo: The textbook is the main resource used in public schools and its critical reading contributes to a more efficient use, especially in the case of contents covered throughout the three grades of high school, such as “Organic Decomposition” (OD). In this research, we analyzed six collections of Biology for High School, seeking to characterize the approach to the content in different grades, its contextualization, depth, articulation with other subjects and its valorization in Applied Biology. In general, OD is presented satisfactorily and at different times, in all books. We observed some interdisciplinarity in Biology, especially with Chemistry, and an emphasis applied to Biotechnology, Conservation Ecology and Forensic Entomology. We conclude that OD has been addressed satisfactorily in the three grades of high school, especially in the contents Origin of Life, Population Ecology, and Biogeochemical Cycles.

En esta investigación analizamos seis colecciones de Biología para Bachillerato, buscando caracterizar el abordaje del contenido en diferentes grados, su contextualización, profundidad, articulación con otras materias y su valorización en Biología Aplicada. En general, la DO se presenta satisfactoriamente y en diferentes momentos, en todos los libros. Observamos cierta interdisciplinariedad en Biología, especialmente con Química, y un énfasis aplicado a Biotecnología, Ecología de la Conservación y Entomología Forense. Concluimos que el DO se ha abordado satisfactoriamente en los tres grados de la escuela secundaria, especialmente en los contenidos Origen de la vida, Ecología de poblaciones y Ciclos biogeoquímicos.O livro didático é o principal recurso adotado na escola pública e sua leitura crítica contribui para uma utilização mais eficiente, especialmente no caso de conteúdos abordados ao longo das três séries do ensino médio, como “Decomposição Orgânica” (DO). Nesta pesquisa, analisamos seis coleções de Biologia para o Ensino Médio, buscando caracterizar a abordagem do conteúdo nas diferentes séries, sua contextualização, profundidade, articulação com outras disciplinas e sua valorização na Biologia Aplicada. De modo geral, DO é abordado de forma satisfatória e em diversos momentos, em todos os livros. Observamos interdisciplinaridade da Biologia, especialmente com a Química, e uma ênfase aplicada à Biotecnologia, à Ecologia da Conservação e à Entomologia Forense.
