MULTIPLICATING WITH THE USE OF THE HANDS AS ALTERNATIVE TO THE STORAGE OF THE TABLES

Resumo: | Mathematics is an intellectual field built, in part, over time on various principles and logical rules, which are the algorithms. The algorithm of multiplication mechanically and systematically used is a result of the process of historical development. In this work, the algorithm of multiplication usually taught in schools was analyzed, as if it were something without justification and without student interaction. With the passing of time, different peoples, in different places, have developed several techniques to multiply and here will be presented one. The objective of this work is to present this technique of multiplication to the 22 students of the sixth grade class of EMEF Sebastião Agripino da Silva, located in the city of Canaã dos Carajás / PA. The approach of the work will be based on the experimentation of this technique by the students after the presentation of the technique, its operation, giving them the evaluation about the potentialities and the challenges of this technique. In this sense, we intend to investigate how students accept the technique of solving multiplications with numbers of five to ten that involve the use of their own hands and compare their acceptance in relation to the traditional taking of tables. |

O algoritmo da multiplicação mecanicamente e sistematicamente utilizado é resultado do processo de desenvolvimento histórico. Neste trabalho, foi analisado o algoritmo da multiplicação usualmente ensinado nas escolas, como se tratasse de algo sem justificativa e sem interação do estudante. Com o passar dos tempos, diferentes povos, em diferentes lugares, desenvolveram diversas técnicas para multiplicar e aqui será apresentada uma. O objetivo desse trabalho é apresentar essa técnica de multiplicação aos 22 estudantes da turma de sexto ano do Ensino Fundamental da EMEF Sebastião Agripino da Silva, situada na cidade de Canaã dos Carajás/PA. A abordagem do trabalho será fundamentada na experimentação desta técnica pelos estudantes após sua apresentação, seu funcionamento, propiciando a eles a avaliação sobre as potencialidades e os desafios dessa técnica.
