TEACHING REFLECTIONS ON EDUCATIONAL PRACTICES OF GEOGRAPHY IN A PUBLIC SCHOOL OF MATO GROSSO

Resumo: This study analyses, from teaching reflections, the educational practices of Geography in a public school of Mato Grosso. The research, of qualitative approach, was supported by a literature review and interviews with teachers. The results evince that, due to the absense of materials and equipments; of financial resources; of stricto sensu qualification and continuing education, and also because of lack of interest on the part of students regarding the field of knowledge, the teaching profession is a challenge. To overcome these issues, the teachers suggest more investiments. They point out that the textbook is important as a teaching tool, but that it is necessary to use also other materials and methodologies. They consider that to work on the local reality is essential for the student to perceive Geography as an instrument of critical analysis of their world, but they express that there is absense of bibliographic materials and allocation of resources to do basic activities such as school trips and outdoor classes.

A pesquisa, de cunho qualitativo, apoiou-se em revisão bibliográfica e na realização de entrevistas com professores. Resultados evidenciam que, frente à ausência de materiais e equipamentos, de recursos financeiros, de qualificação stricto sensu e de formação continuada e, ainda, desinteresse dos alunos a essa área de saber, a docência é um desafio. Para a superação propõem maior investimento. Apontam que o livro didático é importante instrumento de ensino, mas é necessário aprofundar com o uso de outros materiais e metodologias diversificadas.
