This work presents a balance of academic productions, related to the democratization of access to higher education, identified in the database linked to the Research Group on Access and Permanence in Higher Education GPAPES on the PPGEdu portal. The survey and investigation were carried out from December 2020 to January 2021. The objective was to analyze the research carried out in the Graduate Program of the Master in Education of Unemat between the years 2010 to 2020. As descriptors, we list: Access and Permanence. As a result, we aim to present the amount of recurrence and the interpretation of the meanings of the themes that involve the democratization of access and permanence to higher education. In the course of the analysis of the works, we have evidenced that the phenomenon of democratization of access to higher education is a topic that is debated with relevance in the academic productions of PPGEdu, and that affirmative action policies have contributed to the entry of students from public schools, blacks, browns and low-income people, id.est., it has served the popular strata of society, presenting the need for expansion of research that covers several different campuses besides Cáceres.
