Autobiographical Narratives of Natural Sciences Teacher Trainers: a Documentary Study

Resumo: | Abstract: The purpose of this article is to explore information from the histories of life, career and training of university professors who teach in the Natural Sciences area, at the Faculty of Education of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. This study adopts a qualitative documental approach whose methodology it is based on the use of two main sources: autobiographical reports obtained through interviews made available on the university's digital portal and the Lattes curriculum of the individuals involved. Content analysis was employed to interpret the collected data. The academic backgrounds and research productions of each professor were identified, which were shown to be aligned with their positions at the university. It was also found that the professors approached/distanced each other in relation to research and the classroom. The results indicate that the teachers' experiences and life trajectories play an important role in the construction of meanings in relation to the social impact of their professional activities, their understanding of curriculum, models and pedagogical practices, as well as their professional projects. The results obtained highlight the importance of autobiographical narratives as a valuable alternative for research involving teaching, enriching the understanding of the training paths of professionals who play the role of trainers of future Natural Sciences teachers for Basic Education. University education.Resumo: O propósito deste artigo é explorar informações provenientes das histórias de vida, carreira e formação de docentes universitários que lecionam na área de Ciências Naturais, na Faculdade de Educação da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. Este estudo adota uma abordagem qualitativa documental, cuja metodologia se baseia no uso de duas fontes principais: relatos autobiográficos obtidos por meio de entrevistas disponibilizadas no portal digital da universidade e os currículos Lattes dos indivíduos envolvidos. A análise de conteúdo foi empregada para interpretar os dados coletados. Foram identificadas a formação acadêmica e as produções em pesquisa de cada docente, que se mostraram alinhadas com suas posições na universidade. Constataram-se, ainda, ocorrência de aproximações/ afastamentos dos docentes em relação à pesquisa e à sala de aula. Os resultados indicam que as experiências e trajetórias de vida dos docentes desempenham importante papel na construção de significados em relação ao impacto social de suas atividades profissionais, seus entendimentos sobre currículos, modelos e práticas pedagógicas, assim como seus projetos profissionais. Os resultados obtidos destacam a importância das narrativas autobiográficas como uma alternativa valiosa para a pesquisa envolvendo o magistério, enriquecendo a compreensão dos trajetos formativos de profissionais que desempenham o papel de formadores de futuros professores de Ciências Naturais para a Educação Básica.
