Podcasts, Scientific Dissemination and Platformization: History, Potential and Controversies

Resumo: | Abstract: Platformization is linked to the articulation of infrastructures, such as digital platforms, in the various spheres of society. Regarding communication media, such as podcasts, their audiovisual and sound productions not only entertain, but also share information immersed in scientific knowledge. In this sense, understanding the complexity of the contemporary situation regarding scientific dissemination and its respective content producers, this study aimed to understand, based on reports from digital content producers, how podcasts can contribute to the dissemination of knowledge linked to the Natural Sciences. For this, semi-structured interviews were carried out with the content creators of 8 Brazilian scientific podcasts. After producing the information from their reports, the steps that make up Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis were implemented along with assistance in the systematization of information from the IRaMuTeQ Software. In short, based on the analysis carried out, it was possible to highlight consonant elements among the interviewees about the relationship with digital technologies, education and science teaching; the importance of podcasts for scientific dissemination, amid current denialist movements, in addition to the necessary care in the midst of articulation with digital platforms and data security itself. Therefore, from this study, a speaking space was provided for content producers, mainly linked to scientific dissemination, a communicative sphere that has been adapting to the demands of a society increasingly dependent on platforms and their digital artifacts, such as podcasts. Platformization.La plataformización está ligada a la articulación de infraestructuras, como las plataformas digitales, en los diversos ámbitos de la sociedad. En cuanto a los medios de comunicación, como los podcasts, sus producciones audiovisuales y sonoras no solo entretienen, sino que comparten información inmersos en el conocimiento científico. En ese sentido, comprendiendo la complejidad de la situación contemporánea en torno a la divulgación científica y sus productores de contenido, el presente estudio tuvo como objetivo comprender, a partir de informes de productores de contenido digital, cómo los podcasts pueden contribuir a la difusión del conocimiento vinculado a las Ciencias Naturales. Para ello, se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas con los creadores de contenido de 8 podcasts científicos brasileños. Después de producir la información derivada de sus informes, se implementaron los pasos que componen el Análisis Crítico del Discurso de Norman Fairclough y la asistencia en la sistematización de la información del Software IRaMuTeQ. En definitiva, a partir del análisis realizado, fue posible destacar elementos consonantes entre los entrevistados acerca de la relación entre las tecnologías digitales, la educación y la enseñanza de las ciencias; la importancia de los podcasts para la divulgación científica, en medio de los movimientos negacionistas actuales, además del cuidado necesario en medio de la articulación con las plataformas digitales y la propia seguridad de los datos. Por lo tanto, a partir de este estudio se brindó un espacio de discurso para los productores de contenidos, principalmente vinculados a la divulgación científica, un ámbito desprestigiado en el país en los últimos años, pero que se reinventa para hacer frente a las demandas de la sociedad contemporánea.Resumo: A Plataformização vincula-se à articulação de infraestruturas, como as plataformas digitais, nas diversas esferas da sociedade. No que tange às mídias de comunicação, como os podcasts, suas produções audiovisuais e sonoras não apenas entretêm, mas compartilham informações imersas nos saberes científicos. Nesse sentido, compreendendo a complexidade da conjuntura contemporânea quanto à divulgação científica e de seus produtores de conteúdo, o presente estudo se propôs a compreender, a partir de relatos de produtores de conteúdo digital, de que maneira os podcasts podem contribuir para a divulgação de saberes vinculados às Ciências da Natureza. Para isso foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas com os criadores de conteúdo de oito podcasts científicos brasileiros. Após a produção das informações advindas de seus relatos foram implementadas as etapas que compõem a Análise Crítica do Discurso de Norman Fairclough juntamente com o auxílio na sistematização das informações do Software IRaMuTeQ. Em suma, com base na análise realizada foi possível destacar elementos consonantes entre os entrevistados acerca da relação entre as tecnologias digitais, educação e o ensino de ciências; da importância dos podcasts para a divulgação científica, em meio aos movimentos negacionistas na atualidade, além dos necessários cuidados em meio à articulação com plataformas digitais e a própria segurança de dados. Portanto, a partir deste estudo foi oportunizado um espaço de fala para os produtores de conteúdo, principalmente vinculados à divulgação científica, uma esfera comunicativa que vem se adaptando às demandas de uma sociedade cada vez mais dependente de plataformas e de seus artefatos digitais, como os podcasts.
