Resumo: | Abstract: This article comprises a snippet of a master’s research and aimed to analyze the creation and application process of the Didactic Sequence (DS) entitled “Food Chain and Pesticides: Assumptions and Reality”. The DS was made by three educators participants of a continuing education course in Controversial Socio-environmental Themes offered to Basic Education teachers of different subjects active in the state educational system of Maringa-Parana’s city. This investigation characterizes as qualitative and adopts the modality of participative research. The data were collected via audio recording and analyzed by a Content Analysis. The analyzes showcased that from the specific food chain content, the controversial pesticide theme was worked on, considering its environmental, scientific, and economic dimensions. The activities developed valued the students’ previous knowledge, contemplated diverse teaching strategies, promoted discussions, and debates that led students to build arguments for taking a reasoned stand. As for the difficulties faced in the process, the educators mentioned the lack of time and the students' agitation. However, paths open up to make new oriented researches, especially in the teachers' education field and the Science resume aiming to consolidate the insertion of controversial questions in the classroom, reiterating school as a learning space for specific knowledge, skills and competences development, and building values to mold responsible and participative citizens. Teachers’ education.
