The difficulties of learning Mathematics in Basic Education and its reflections in the Degree Course in Physics at IFCE - Campus Tianguá

Resumo: The present article analyzed the difficulties of learning mathematics in the Physics Degree course at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Ceará (IFCE), Tianguá Campus. This study was idealized because, historically, many of the students of Basic Education have serious learning difficulties in Mathematics, during their training period, and may generate a huge deficit in the teaching-learning process at the Higher level. Thus, the objective of this work was to analyze the difficulties presented by students of the Physics Degree course at the Tianguá Campus, in the field of teaching Mathematics. Thus, a qualitative research was carried out with students and teachers from the Campus, in order to confirm such difficulties in the Mathematics subjects and, consequently, the possible losses presented in the subsequent semesters. Finally, the research verified how this accumulation of academic deficit can occur and the possible solutions to minimize, or even eliminate these obstacles. However, for this to happen, it is necessary to carry out a work that involves managers, teachers and, mainly, students, in order to perceive the problem as a reality on the Campus, and to have the maximum effort to guarantee the quality of teaching in Mathematics in the Physics course.

Esse estudo foi idealizado porque, historicamente, muitos dos estudantes da Educação Básica apresentam sérias dificuldades de aprendizagem da Matemática, durante o seu período de formação, podendo proporcionar um enorme déficit no processo de ensino-aprendizagem no nível Superior. Assim, o objetivo deste trabalho foi o de analisar as dificuldades apresentadas pelos estudantes do curso de Licenciatura em Física do Campus de Tianguá, na área de ensino da Matemática. Dessa forma, foi realizada uma pesquisa com abordagem qualitativa, com alunos e professores do Campus, no intuito de confirmar tais dificuldades nas disciplinas de Matemática e, consequentemente, os possíveis prejuízos apresentados nos semestres subsequentes. Para finalizar, verificou-se como pode ocorrer esse acúmulo de déficit acadêmico e as possíveis soluções para minimizar, ou até mesmo eliminar esses obstáculos.
