RESUMOEste artigo tem como objetivo mostrar as transformações no sistema intelectual brasileiro no contexto da Primeira Guerra Mundial e o alinhamento da elite intelectual a uma agenda nacionalista. Para isto, primeiramente, narra a visita de Olavo Bilac ao Rio Grande do Sul em 1916 durante a sua Campanha Nacionalista com o propósito de defender a criação da Liga de Defesa Nacional e apresentar à elite intelectual local o programa nacionalista que deveria ser o núcleo das produções intelectuais com vistas à educação cívica e patriótica da população. Em seguida, mostra a eficácia e penetração daquelas ideias através de dois exemplos de intelectuais locais que se articularam ao programa nacionalista, a saber, Fernando Luís Osório e Jorge Salis Goulart.ABSTRACTThis article aims to show the changes in the Brazilian intellectual field around the First World War and the alignment of intellectuals to the new nationalistic agenda. In order to do that, first, narres the visit of Olavo Bilac to Rio Grande do Sul in 1916 during his Nationalistic Campaign. The Olavo Bilac’s purpose was to defend the foundation of a regional committee of the National Defense League and present to local intellectual elite the nationalistic program and ideas that should be the center of intellectual productions aiming the civic and patriotic education of population. Second, shows the efficiency and spreading of those ideas through the example of two intellectuals who at some point embraced the nationalistic program: Fernando Luís Osório and Jorge Salis Goulart.
