ResumoComo produto das relações humanas e dos grupos advindos da sociedade, a memória se apresenta como elemento balizador das representações dos sujeitos em seus grupos. É campo de interesse de estudo de distintas áreas do conhecimento, momento em que se coloca como temática relevante no entendimento das representações simbólicas, materiais e discursivas do homem na atualidade. O presente ensaio busca discorrer acerca de algumas de suas principais características e, para isso, utilizou-se basicamente referências bibliográficas da área. Apresenta as ligações efetivadas entre memória e as representações dela advindas, as quais produzem elementos que outorgam as identidades dos sujeitos e dos grupos em sociedade. Associa-se, desta feita, os processos memoriais àquilo que, consagrado no campo cultural, têm-se como os elementos fundantes e necessários das relações dos indivíduos em sociedade.AbstractAs a product of human relations and of groups coming from society, memory presents itself as a guiding element in the representations of subjects in their groups. It is a field of interest for the study of different areas of knowledge, a moment in which it stands out as a relevant theme in the understanding of symbolic, material and discursive representations of man today. The present essay seeks to discuss some of its main characteristics and, for that, basically used bibliographic references in the area. It presents the effective connections between memory and the representations that come from it, which produce elements that grant the identities of subjects and groups in society. This time, the memorial processes are associated with what, enshrined in the cultural field, have as the founding and necessary elements of the relationships of individuals in society.
