Resumo: The aim of this study was to evaluate the Quality of Life of patients with leprosy sequelae and their caregivers using the World Health Organization’s Quality of Life brief Questionnaire (WHOQOL-brief), a generic instrument that allows comparison between different conditions with a single parameter. There were evaluated 30 binomials of leprosy patients in long-term home care, and their home caregivers living in a former leprosarium area. We found worse Quality of Life scores of patients in the Physic domain and worse scores of caregivers in Social domain. The results are discussed under the view of compulsory internment to which patients were submitted when developed active leprosy, showingcorrelation between the Quality of Life scores measured and some specificities of the Leprosaria.

Foram avaliados 30 binômios de cuidadores domiciliares e pacientes com necessidades de cuidados prolongados vivendo em domicílio, na área de abrangência de um antigo hospital-colônia. Encontraram-se piores escores de qualidade de vida de pacientes no domínio Físico e de cuidadores no domínio Social.
