Nursing consultation in the care context to the patient with leprosy

Resumo: | This study aimed to describe about nursing consultation in the care context of patient with leprosy. It is a descriptive and exploratory study with a qualitative approach, developed in a public health institution in Fortaleza-CE. Data were collected from February to April 2013, with seven nurses, using a deep interview. Data analysis was made by content analysis method, identifying as main category: Nursing care to the person with leprosy, and three subcategories: Basic aspects in the nursing consultation of new cases; Conducting of subsequent nursing consultation; and Nursing Care Systematization. Nurses were willing to see the patient as an unique person, respecting the particularity of illness by leprosy. Professionals revealed an humanized, technical and scientific care, characterized by therapeutic relationship, informational support, reinforce to self-care, identification of complaints, examination of the nerves, administration of supervised dose, convocation of leprosy contacts and use of nursing care systematization as a guide to the care. We conclude that nursing consultation as an instrument in the care context to the person with leprosy showed its potential in the therapeutic management of disease, constituting an strategy of approach, evaluation, guidance and appreciation of the patient’s coping context and overcome the stigma implied in this sick condition. |

Trata-se de um estudo exploratório-descritivo, qualitativo, desenvolvido em uma instituição pública de saúde de Fortaleza-CE. Os dados foram coletados no período de fevereiro a abril de 2013, com sete enfermeiros, por meio de entrevista em profundidade. A análise dos dados seguiu as etapas da análise de conteúdo, elencando-se a categoria: Assistência de enfermagem à pessoa com hanseníase, e três subcategorias: Aspectos básicos da consulta de enfermagem dos casos novos; Condução da consulta de enfermagem subsequente; e Sistematização da Assistência de Enfermagem. Os enfermeiros se mostraram dispostos a perceber o outro em sua singularidade e na particularidade do adoecimento pela hanseníase. Os relatos dos profissionais revelaram a prestação de um cuidado humanizado e pautado no saber-fazer, caracterizado pelo relacionamento terapêutico, orientações ao paciente, reforço ao autocuidado, identificação das queixas, exame dos troncos nervosos, administração da dose supervisionada, convocação dos contatos domiciliares e utilização da Sistematização da Assistência de Enfermagem como ferramenta norteadora do cuidado.
